2023 is upon us, and having reached half way through the Rotary year it is worth taking a moment to check how we are travelling.  And it is a good news story - the Sundowners continue to grow and serve the community in even more ways, all while having fun with a great bunch of people.  Here's a quick snapshot of the Canberra Sundowners' last 6 months:

Social - great activities including ten pin bowling, dinner at Snappers and networking at club meetings,

Fundraising - three Bunnings BBQs, Floriade gnomes and Careers Expo, raising over $6,000 to support our service to the community,
Membership - increased to 32 members, with many of our newer members in their 20s, 30s and 40s, which is bucking the trend of many volunteer organisations,

Community Service - site painting and provision and distribution of Christmas hampers at Oaks Estate; support to CS#1 for the Family Fun Day, Christmas hamper items donations and distribution; monthly staffing of  the Vinnies Night Van providing food, clothing and support for Canberra's homeless; the purchase of Adopt-A-Trees and much more,

Youth - support to the Model United Nations Assembly debate and support to Sophie Cann to attend the Future Leaders Academy, and

Great guest speakers including Frances Crimmins, CEO of YWCA.

And if that sounds busy, check us out over the next 6 months.  We have a social BBQ planned to kick off the year, two Bunnings BBQs booked, and plans to be involved in another Birthing Kit packing event, Clean Up Australia Day events, a couple of tree planting and environmental activities, and much more.
