Throughout October, we rallied together to raise awareness and funds for Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign and what an incredible effort it was!
Some of our members took part in the Walk With Us to End Polio challenge, pounding the pavement in their red End Polio Now apparel right across the ACT. Together they clocked up 1,453 kilometres and raised $2,593. With the Gates Foundation's 2:1 match, that’s $7,779 going directly to PolioPlus!
We also hosted a World’s Greatest Meal fundraiser, which raised $813 and once matched, that’s another $2,440 towards PolioPlus.
All up, we have played a part in contributing $10,219, helping drive awareness and support for Rotary’s global mission to end polio for good.
At our meeting this week, Rotary International Director Jennifer Scott AM presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Peter Hill for his huge efforts in the Walk With Us challenge. Unfortunately, the rest of our walking and running crew couldn’t make it as they’re still icing their calves after such a big month of steps!
Our sincere thanks to everyone who walked, donated or cheered us on. Together, we’re one step closer to a polio-free world.
