Our president, Mitra, got her first taste of camping – and it was for a worthy cause!

Mitra was among a group of Rotarians who slept under the stars in Boorowa as part of the ShelterBox Australia Off the Grid challenge.
Campers braved the elements to raise money for ShelterBox Australia’s work to provide emergency shelter and other essential items to people displaced by conflict or natural disasters.

Participants included Rotarians from our club, Boorowa Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Yass as well District Governor Rob Uhl, District Governor elect Robert Shore, and Rotary Community Leader Leigh Robinson. Together, they’ve raised close to $17,000!

Campers shared a barbecue dinner, many laughs and stories around the campfire, before retreating to their swags and tents as they braved the cold. Their efforts were rewarded with a barbecue breakfast Sunday morning, with plans already afoot for next year's event.

Thank you to everyone who supported the challenge, including Boorowa Rotary Club for hosting the event. You can make a donation here: offthegrid.raiselysite.com/donate
