On Sunday afternoon, at the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell at Lennox Gardens, we were proud to celebrate the Canberra Region Rotary Community Service Awards which recognises individuals and organisations who are making a real difference across the national capital region.

The highlight for us was recognising Liz and Rob Taylor, whose joint commitment to community service and connection reflects the spirit of the Canberra Sundowners.

Together, Liz and Rob demonstrate the powerful effect that community service can have. By combining Liz’s deep commitment to supporting and empowering young women with Rob’s ability to bring people together through car culture, they have transformed Canberra 7s Day into far more than an automotive event. It has become a welcoming, inclusive community gathering that not only connects people around a shared passion but also raises vital awareness and funds for Fearless Women, directly supporting mentoring opportunities for girls and young women who need it most.

Their partnership is terrific example that community service can be undertaken from a variety of perspectives. By combining their interests, skills and values, Liz and Rob have created something uniquely impactful that strengthens lives, builds confidence and brings people together.

Canberra is so fortunate to have Liz and Rob dedicated to making a positive difference and we are grateful to have been able to recognise and celebrate their community service.
