At our 6 August meeting we heard from John Askew and Dennis Ogden of Kids in Care ACT.
Kids in Care ACT raises money to support at-risk children and those living in poverty in Canberra and neighbouring regions of NSW.
This includes the purchase and delivery of Christmas presents and the preparation and circulation of Go Bags.
Go Bags are designed for children, youth and families placed in emergency or foster care — and who often don’t have time to take personal possessions or special belongings with them. The bags contain age-appropriate items, like clothes, toiletries, a book or toy, to make a big transition a little easier.
Thank you John (who is also a fellow Rotarian at the Rotary Club of Jerrabomberra) and Dennis for telling us more about this great initiative - and showing us an example of a Go Bag.
