The first six months of the 2021/22 Rotary year has been a roller coaster for the Sundowners, with many highs and a few lows - mainly associated with the ACT COVID-19 lockdown and cancellation of a few planned events .

Our biggest highlight was of course completing our chartering journey in August.  We look forward to our delayed charter celebrations in February.

We were busy serving our community through:
  • installing three swing seats for residents at Oaks Estate on behalf of Vinnies,
  • supporting the CS#1 food pantry with a number of deliveries at the start of the ACT COVID lockdown,
  • supporting Garry Malhotra's Helping Hands meal distribution to those in need over a number of weekends,
  • undertaking a Lids4Kids lid sorting day, and
  • collecting a large donation of Christmas goodies for CS#1 Christmas hampers.

We were enthused with a range of great speakers at club meetings from groups including CS#1, the Embassy of Timor Leste, Operation Cleft, Menslink and BeyondWater.

We were also busy with a range of key activities to set ourselves up as an independent club, two Bunnings BBQs in December, and moving to a new venue at the National Press Club for our meetings.

We look forward to kicking off the next 6 months with a range of activities including launching our 2nd Street Library, a tree planting and our charter celebration.

If you are interested in giving back to your community while having fun with like minded people, contact us or come along to our meetings.  We would love to see you.
