This November we’re proud to be part of the StreetBeat challenge! We’ve committed to funding two publicly accessible automated external defibrillators (AEDs) which will be installed in Narrabundah and Braddon.
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in Canberra and only about 5% of people who experience one outside a hospital survive. The use of an AED can significantly increase the chances of surviving.
The AEDs will be accessible 24/7, meaning whenever a cardiac arrest happens, there will be a device available.
That’s why we’re supporting Service One Mutual and St John Ambulance ACT to install AEDs in every suburbs across Canberra.
To mark World Restart a Heart Day, we were pleased to attend the official launch of the StreetBeat challenge on Thursday, 16 October at Curtin and hear firsthand how the AEDs are making a difference in the community.
