It was a terrific morning at Community Services #1 for the official unveiling of the enhanced community garden project that we’ve completed thanks to an ACT Community Garden Grant from the ACT Government.

We’ve had a lot of fun over the past six months working on this project, including adding new garden beds, introducing wicking beds to improve water management and making the space more accessible for everyone to enjoy. The grant also supported training to help locals build their gardening skills and confidence.

The event also marked the opening of the improved Community Food Pantry, which supports individuals and families doing it tough by making good food more affordable and accessible. We were pleased to donate nine trolleys to help move donated items into the pantry through a grant from the Canberra Southern Cross Club.

It was wonderful to join CS#1 staff, clients, Minister for Finance, Rachel Stephen-Smith MLA, and Member for Kurrajong, Thomas Emerson MLA, to mark the occasion and see the impact these improvements will have.

We’re grateful to have partnered with the ACT Government and the Canberra Southern Cross Club to support the important work of CS#1.
