We were grateful to have two inspiring young leaders in Michael and Isla join us at our meeting this week.
Michael attended RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) last year with the support of our club, while Isla travelled to Denmark in 2025 as part of the Youth Exchange Program, also sponsored by us.
Both shared reflections on their experiences and the impact these opportunities had on them.
For Michael, RYPEN was an opportunity to step outside his comfort zone, build confidence and develop leadership skills while connecting with other young people from across the region. Through team challenges, discussions and new friendships, he discovered the value of collaboration and backing himself in unfamiliar situations.
Isla spoke about the incredible experience of living in Denmark and immersing herself in a different culture. Youth Exchange gave her a deeper appreciation for both the similarities and differences between cultures, while building independence and lifelong international friendships. It was an experience that broadened her perspective and gave her memories that will last a lifetime.
To show our appreciation, we presented both Michael and Isla with Certificates of Appreciation, as we are proud to have played a small part in supporting them to take part in these life-changing opportunities.
Programs like RYPEN and the Youth Exchange Program are a great example of how Rotary invests in the next generation of leaders.
